The Club is pretty informal.  We don't have organising committees, boards, or membership fees.  It's just a group of people who try and find an excuse to get together once a month or so at someone's home or a local store to view their set-ups and chat over some drinks and eats.  We have over a hundred members and you will find a few of their reef aquariums detailed under the Our Reefs tab above, with set-ups ranging all the way from 50 litre nano aquariums to monster systems of 3,000 litres or more. 

As you would expect, our core membership is based in Essex, but we also have a number of associate members from around the borders, who also like to attend Essex Reef Club events when these are near to them.

Club members don't have to host meets, or turn up to them - we recognise that this isn't everyone's cup of tea.  But membership can still bring benefits in the shape of exclusive discounts and special offers for Club members from some of our sponsors. 

These discounts and occasional bulk buys arranged by the Club can save substantial sums, and we are very grateful for this support from local stores and online businesses.  We ask our members to return the favour by supporting our Sponsors and Friends when they can.

Communication with club members is normally made through postings and messages sent through our own Essex Reef Club Forum.  The Forum provides an excellent way for members to keep in touch with each other and post news, seek help, make requests, and swap or sell equipment and livestock with other local reefers.  All Essex based reefkeepers are welcome to join and use the forum, not just Club members, and over 300 other hobbyists are registered on the forum in addition to our core membership.  However, access to certain sections of the forum is restricted to club and associate members only.
